Abstract

For over three centuries, starting from its foundation, the city of Santa Marta lacked higher education; only until the mid-nineteenth century began its academic activities at the University of the Sovereign State of Magdalena with medical schools. Jurisprudence and Pedagogy. But this institution was short-lived as it was closed in 1872.
