Abstract

This text has two objectives: first, to characterize the SARS-CoV-2 virus as an actor-network, and second, to document its assembly within the human environment as a mediator that 'enables other mediators to act.' It is situated within the field of 'scientific humanities' and employs Actor-Network Theory (ANT). This analysis examines the course of action where the virus's existence is contingent on the expansion of its links and its entanglement with numerous mediators, including biological, genetic, epidemiological, and computational knowledge and practices. This entanglement prompts a reconfiguration, disrupting various societal entities across much of the globe through simultaneous collective actions. The text outlines the extensive network of mediators that activate the virus, granting it existence and facilitating its movement as agencies, all interconnected through collective, material, and discursive ties. The goal is to reveal the distributive movement that ascribes an anthropomorphic quality to the virus.
