The Editorial, Scientific Committee, and the Editor of Duazary contemplate the necessary actions to prevent and avoid bad practices in the content, fraud, and plagiarism, aware of the importance of maintaining high standards of ethics and responsibility inherent to scientific publication. Based on the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, " it is an act of fraud that consists of passing off as one's own the ideas or words of another person or presenting as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source without the acknowledgment of the case," that is, copying someone else's text without citing the source. In this sense, a guide on these topics is proposed below for authors.

 Editorial policy

Authors who wish to publish in Duazary must register in the Open Journal System ( http://revistas.unimagdalena.edu.co/index.php/duazary/user/register ) and send the manuscript from this platform. The author responsible for the correspondence may request and send information via email: revistaduazary@unimagdalena.edu.co. Additionally, Duazary will subject all articles it receives to an originality review using Turnitin software. When a total coincidence of the submitted manuscript with another text is detected without the corresponding citations, the manuscript will be rejected immediately, and the corresponding author will be notified of the reason for the rejection, following what is recommended in COPE according to its acronym in English (http://publicationethics.org/files/Spanish%20%281%29.pdf). If the similarity is partial, the author responsible for the correspondence will be notified to make the necessary adjustments (including citations, paraphrasing, and quotation marks) to continue with the editorial process.

 Duazary committee members

The Editor, the Editorial Committee, the scientific committee, or any other person who directly connects with the Journal must refrain from publishing documents that require scientific arbitration to avoid violating the principle of anonymity in the review process. They may only participate as authors of editorials.

Article evaluation and editorial process

Each item submitted to Duazary is considered a confidential document. For this reason, the evaluation process for evaluators and authors is anonymous ( masked ); that is, reviewers and authors will remain secret from each other.

 Author responsibilities

The authors are responsible for the content of the articles in any situation involving the Editor, the editorial committee, the scientific committee, or the University of Magdalena.

The authors must state that they are independent concerning the funding and supporting institutions and that during the execution of the work or the writing of the article, they were free of biases induced by interests or values other than those that the research usually has. Only articles in which the authors deny any conflict of interest will be considered. In some cases, it will be necessary for the authors to specify the support received (financial, equipment, work personnel, in kind, etcetera) from people or public or private institutions to carry out the study, as well as the personal or institutional relationships that may influence the conduct, the results, their interpretation and the writing of the article. These financing or supporting institutions must be indicated exclusively in the acknowledgments section.

When the author cites the work of another or reproduces a figure or table from a book or magazine article, he or she must attach authorization for the reproduction. Also, cite the origin. The authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce previously published texts, figures, tables, photographs, or other illustrations.

Material extracted from unpublished letters, manuscripts, and interviews will be rejected as references unless the author obtains the corresponding permission, that is, a signed document authorizing the publication of the material in print, digital, or any other media—a disclosure that may arise, guaranteeing that it will be done only for academic purposes. The author will always acknowledge any material provided to him appropriately.

Authors can use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the writing of texts written in Spanish or English. However, the authors will always be responsible for any inaccuracies or distortions that may arise. Authors must declare and present in the article that they used AI. Likewise, Duazary will refrain from publishing figures or images edited with AI. AI will never be listed as the author of manuscripts.

The inclusion or removal of authors from articles once they have been sent to Duazary is wholly prohibited. In strictly exceptional cases, the author or authors will be included or removed after study by the Editorial Committee. Authors to include or remove must obtain a signed declaration from the other authors of the article. Each person's contribution during the process of preparing and completing the research should be mentioned in detail. People who, in one way or another, made substantial contributions to the article without reaching the status of its authors may be named in the acknowledgments without mentioning titles or acronyms.

When an error is detected in any article data that could alter the content of a publication, the author(s) are obliged to let the Journal know so that it can modify it, withdraw it, or publish an error. In the event that said error is discovered by a member of Duazary, the author(s) will be notified so that they can demonstrate that the work is correct.

Unjustified fragmentation of manuscripts should be avoided. As it is a pervasive study or investigation, it may be published in several parts so that each develops a specific aspect of the original research. The author(s) must guarantee that the different related works are published in the same Journal to facilitate readers' interpretation of the study in general.

 Editorial responsibilities

In Duazary, the Editor and the Editorial Committee are responsible for choosing the articles that will be published. The criteria for this selection are based on the articles' characteristics, such as quality, relevance, originality, unpublished character, and contributions to the knowledge of the topic addressed by the Journal. In this sense, the Editor and the editorial committee will also consider the diversity and plurality of the journal's contents. If an article is rejected, the author will be justified based on these aspects.

Duazary's editorial team is responsible for the style review, layout, publication, and printing of all articles accepted for publication. In the same way, for the dissemination and distribution of the published edition, a maximum of five copies will be sent to the main author of each article, free of charge, and to the national and international repositories and indexing systems as agreed.

Responsibility of Evaluators/Peer Review

The editorial team formalizes the review process for an article sent to Duazary. This stage includes reviewing the manuscript for originality using the Turnitin software. The article is then evaluated by at least two external peers (national or foreign) who conceptualize aspects related to originality, depth, and theoretical contributions.

Confidentiality of manuscripts in evaluation processes

When the evaluation of writing is carried out, it must be considered a document of utmost confidentiality in any of the steps of the editorial process until its publication is carried out. Disseminating or sharing any part or fragment of the document under review is prohibited. However, there are exceptions, such as the help of other experts in the field to strengthen the review process, with prior authorization from the Editor in charge of the publication.

Editing rules

Authors will be allowed a maximum of one textual citation, less than six lines in each article. Authors must ensure that the results presented in the articles through figures, tables, or texts are original, not distorted, or products of inspiration. They should remember that plagiarism in all their presentations is considered bad scientific practice.

Declaration of ethical aspects

After the materials and methods as a secondary title, the procedures followed in the study will be mentioned to guarantee compliance with the principles and ethical standards of the Declaration of Helsinki of 1975 and its subsequent revisions and Resolution 8430 of 1993 of the Ministry of Health of Colombia. In any case, it must indicate how the rights of the participants were protected and if they were given consent or authorization for procedures that must be sent at the time of sending the manuscript. The patients' names, initials, or hospital numbers should be omitted, especially in illustrative material with the image of the patient or any other element that may indicate the patient's identity. When animals are used in experiments, it will be indicated whether the guidelines of the institution of origin, a national research committee, or any other entity that may arise have been considered. Likewise, any national regulations on managing or using laboratory animals must be considered.
