Abstract

Fibromyalgia is a disease that causes pain, stiffness, and tenderness in muscles, tendons, and joints. The case of a 65-year-old woman with fibromyalgia is presented. The nursing process was elaborated using Marjory Gordon's functional patterns theory and the NANDA, NIC, and NOC taxonomies. Physical mobility impairment, insomnia, and chronic pain syndrome were prioritized. It is concluded that, due to the increase of people with fibromyalgia, the demand for care, and the unspecificity of symptoms, caring for people with fibromyalgia and their families is a challenge for nursing.
