Abstract

Interpersonal relationships are given when a fellow has conscience of his own acting reality and for this fact he understands the reality of «another one», depending on his capacity to be autonomous, able to exercise his rights and of acting responsibly. The one, that settles down between health professionals and patients, should be understood as a resulting interaction between aspects of the same one and the values of a certain society, the regional or local tradition of medical practice, the sense of professional responsibility, the interpretation of that sense and the regulation determined by the state. To characterize this relationship in an Institución Prestadora de Servicios de Salud (IPS) in the district of Barranquilla, by means of a etnografical study, allows an approaching between the theory of recognized humanists and the practice. The process was based on a categorization of testimonies in the identification of associate aspects that allows an analysis from different areas of knowledge.
